About us

Who we are

Welcome to the Health Policy and Advocacy Coalition (HPAC)!

We are a vibrant community of students, united by our unwavering commitment to shaping the future of healthcare through policy advocacy and amplifying student voices.

We envision a world where evidence-based policies drive equitable access to healthcare, address social determinants of health, and promote well-being for all.

We were founded in 2023 by University of Connecticut students with a goal to shape healthcare policy to help the disadvantaged. From there, we expanded to numerous universities across the nation to spread our impact.

We now have a variety of chapters focused on unique areas of healthcare that need reform. Each chapter has a team that identifies a problem, creates an action plan, and implements the plan, making a positive difference in the healthcare field.

Our approach

Advocacy in Action

At HPAC, advocacy isn’t just a buzzword—it’s our driving force. Whether you’re passionate about mental health, reproductive rights, or healthcare equity, your voice matters. As a member, you’ll actively engage in advocating for policies that impact real lives by gathering grassroots support for health-related legislation/policy, petitioning lawmakers and officials, and creating social media campaigns to increase public awareness of key issues – just to give a few examples.

Our Vision

In our two-pronged approach, we are committed to real action. That is why our members create projects with on-the-ground applications. Whether it’s compiling local healthcare resources for the uninsured or distributing sanitary supplies to the housing-insecure, HPAC members combine innovation, project management, and compassion to leave a lasting impact on their communities.
